Republican Hits Pelosi Amid Special Forces Scandal

Pelosi has some explaining to do.

Florida Republican Rep. Anna Paulina Luna is calling for a pardon for a U.S. Special Forces soldier facing major federal charges, saying the case highlights what many Americans see as a double standard in Washington.

The controversy centers on Master Sgt. Gannon Ken Van Dyke, who prosecutors say used inside knowledge connected to a mission involving former Venezuelan leader Nicolás Maduro to place wagers on a prediction market platform. Authorities allege he earned more than $400,000 after the operation’s outcome became public.

Luna argued that while military personnel can face severe punishment, members of Congress are often accused of questionable financial activity without meaningful consequences.

Speaking on Fox News, Luna said the soldier could face decades in prison while lawmakers on both sides of the aisle continue trading stocks and building wealth with little oversight.

The case gained even more attention after President Donald Trump responded publicly, comparing the controversy to baseball legend Pete Rose.

Trump said he would review the situation, noting that Rose was heavily punished for betting on his own team rather than against it.

Luna also renewed calls for legislation that would ban stock trading by members of Congress. She said previous efforts to pass bipartisan reforms were blocked by congressional leadership.

The Florida lawmaker specifically mentioned former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, whose family trading activity has often drawn public criticism, though Pelosi has denied wrongdoing and has supported reforms.

Federal prosecutors charged Van Dyke with wire fraud, unlawful monetary transactions, and violations of the Commodity Exchange Act. Investigators say the bets were placed between December 2025 and January 2026, including one shortly before the mission began.

Luna said she does not support the soldier’s actions, but believes justice should be applied equally across all levels of government.

Why This Story Matters

For many conservative voters, this case reflects a growing frustration with elite privilege, selective accountability, and different rules for Washington insiders versus everyday Americans.
