Trump Shockingly Copies Hillary

Trump said one word that caused Hillary Clinton a lot of problems in 2016.

President Donald Trump spent part of Saturday highlighting ongoing renovation and security projects at the White House after a day of criticizing New York Times reporters Maggie Haberman and Jonathan Swan in a series of posts on Truth Social.

Later in the day, Trump shifted attention away from media criticism and shared before-and-after images of work being done at the White House. In the post, he argued that portions of the historic property had been neglected for years and described their condition as “deplorable.”

That particular word quickly drew attention online because of its place in modern political history. During the 2016 presidential campaign, former Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton famously referred to many Trump supporters as part of a “basket of deplorables,” a phrase that became one of the defining moments of that election. While Trump used the word to describe the condition of the White House rather than people, the similarity in language prompted discussion across social media.

In his Truth Social post, Trump wrote that the front entrance of the White House had been in poor condition for years and compared its appearance to what he described as the state of the country when he returned to office. He also defended the restoration work, arguing that preserving one of America’s most recognizable landmarks is an important investment.

The president said critics have questioned the amount of attention being devoted to the project, but he maintained that the renovations are designed to restore the White House to its historic appearance while improving its long-term condition. Trump also expressed confidence that the completed work would become a source of national pride and showcase the executive residence in a way that honors its history.

The White House renovation project extends beyond cosmetic improvements. According to CNN, construction crews are currently reinforcing the North Portico entrance, an area that has been temporarily covered with scaffolding and protective materials while repairs are completed.

The report noted that the security upgrades have long been recommended by the U.S. Secret Service and are intended to strengthen protection at one of the most frequently used entrances to the White House. The current phase of construction is expected to continue through at least mid-September.

Security has become a recurring theme in the administration’s discussion of White House improvements. Officials have pointed to evolving security threats and the need to modernize protective infrastructure around the executive mansion while preserving the building’s historic character.

Trump has also continued promoting plans for a new 90,000-square-foot ballroom on the White House grounds. The proposed facility would reportedly include advanced security features such as a dedicated drone operations area, elevated observation positions for security personnel, and a secure underground shelter designed for emergency situations.

Supporters of the renovation projects argue the upgrades will better protect one of the nation’s most historic buildings while preserving it for future generations. They also say modern security enhancements are necessary given today’s evolving threats.

Critics, however, have questioned both the scale of the projects and whether the resources devoted to the renovations should instead be directed toward other priorities. The White House improvements have therefore become part of a broader political debate over government spending, historic preservation, and presidential security.

Although the renovations themselves have generated discussion, it was Trump’s choice of the word “deplorable” that sparked much of Saturday’s online conversation. Because of the term’s close association with Hillary Clinton’s widely discussed 2016 campaign remarks, many social media users immediately drew comparisons between the two moments, even though the contexts were very different.

As work continues at the White House over the coming months, both the restoration efforts and the administration’s security upgrades are likely to remain in the spotlight. The project represents one of the most significant modernization efforts at the executive residence in recent years, combining historic preservation with updated security measures while continuing to generate political and public debate.
