Chaos At White House, Trump On Lockdown

Here’s everything you need to know.

A major security incident unfolded near the White House on Saturday evening after gunfire erupted close to a security checkpoint, prompting an immediate response from federal law enforcement and temporarily placing the area under heightened security measures.

Officials confirmed that President Donald Trump was inside the White House at the time of the incident but was not injured or directly threatened during the confrontation.

According to the United States Secret Service, the situation began shortly after 6 p.m. near 17th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue when a man allegedly removed a firearm from a bag and opened fire near a secured perimeter area. Secret Service officers responded within seconds and exchanged gunfire with the suspect.

Authorities later identified the individual as 21-year-old Nasire Best. He was transported to a local hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

Investigators are continuing to examine the suspect’s background, possible motives, and whether the White House or nearby federal buildings were specifically connected to the incident.

A bystander was also injured during the shooting. Officials said it remains unclear whether the person was struck by rounds fired by the suspect or during the law enforcement response. No Secret Service agents were reported injured.

The shooting triggered a large-scale security operation around the White House complex, with officers rapidly securing nearby streets and restricting access to portions of downtown Washington.

Members of the press working at the White House reported hearing multiple gunshots and were directed to shelter inside secure briefing areas while agents cleared the scene.

Images from the area later showed crime scene tape, evidence markers, and emergency personnel spread across sidewalks outside the White House perimeter as investigators collected forensic evidence and interviewed witnesses.

Video shared online by Selina Wang captured the tense moments as the incident unfolded. The footage, recorded near the White House media area, quickly spread across social media and drew widespread public attention.

Kash Patel confirmed that federal agencies were coordinating the investigation and said additional information would be released once authorities completed their preliminary review of the scene.

Saturday’s incident marks the latest in a series of recent security scares near high-profile government locations in Washington, D.C. In recent weeks, federal authorities have responded to multiple firearm-related incidents near major landmarks and events connected to national political figures.

Security experts note that areas surrounding the White House remain among the most heavily monitored locations in the United States, with multiple federal agencies working together to respond rapidly to potential threats.

The Federal Bureau of Investigation, United States Secret Service, and Metropolitan Police Department continue to investigate the incident as officials work to determine the full sequence of events.

For residents, tourists, and workers in the nation’s capital, the incident served as another reminder of the intense security environment surrounding major government institutions and nationally significant locations.Chaos At White House, Trump On Lockdown
