UN Suspends Russia From Human Rights Council, Ukraine Says “Grateful”

[ad_1]

New Delhi:

The United Nations Normal Meeting as we speak suspended Russia from Human Rights Council after killings in Ukraine’s Bucha, reviews information company AFP.

Proof of civilian killings in Bucha and different cities round Kyiv — which Ukraine has blamed on Russian troops, allegations denied by Moscow — have shocked the world and triggered calls for brand new sanctions on Moscow.

Ukraine mentioned it was “grateful” for the choice to droop Russia from the UN Human Rights Council, saying “warfare criminals” shouldn’t be represented within the physique.

“Conflict criminals haven’t any place in UN our bodies geared toward defending human rights,” International Minister Dmytro Kuleba mentioned on Twitter.

“Grateful to all member states which supported the related UNGA (United Nations Normal Meeting) decision and selected the correct facet of historical past.”
